THE CLAN ASSOCIATION IN SCOTLAND

The Clan Cameron Association was formed in 1889 thanks to the endeavours of a number of enthusiastic Camerons who valued the clan and its links throughout the world. The original aims of the Association were “the reviving, conserving, and promoting of the interests, sentiments, and associations of the Clan; the cultivation of social intercourse among members; the encouragement of education; the collecting and preservation of records and traditions relating to the History of the Clan, and any other objects which the Association may from time to time determine”. And these are as relevant today as they were more than a hundred years ago. Over the years the fortunes of the Association have waxed and waned with the development of new Branches at home and abroad. Currently this Association, although called the Clan Cameron Association Scotland covers all of  the UK and Europe.

The CCAS crest was granted in 2003 and features the Clan colours of  red and gold These are termed “gules” and “or” in heraldry. Thus we have  “gules, three bars or, two Lochaber axes in saltire surmounted by a targe after the pattern carried by Lochiel at Culloden”. The motto “Aonaibh ri Lochiall” means “Unite with Lochiel”
