Editorial

In the last editorial, I spo= ke of the need for good communications. Since then I have revamped the website and put in a number of new features. Among these is the photo gallery which rec= ords some of the people and activities over the last few years. However, it is important to ensure that a website is dynamic and that it is continuously changing to reflect the new activities within the Association. I would welcome suggestions.<= /o:p>

I have also added two featur= es by which you can communicate with me and with each other. I would hope that the comments box will generate good debates. So far I have listed Genealogy, The 2007 Gathering and the Power line from Beauly to D= enny which crosses the Battlefield of Sherrifmuir. It would be good to have an ongoing debate through the website. In addition I = have put in a box where you can make short snappy comments. It is good to see comments from Canada a= nd from Russia. Incidentally, the website is picking up new members from across the world.<= o:p>

With regard to past Newslett= ers, the Council has adopted the policy that any current Newsletter will only be put= on the web when the next one comes out. I am trying also to put together an in= dex of all the articles that have appeared in the Newsletters so that we have a= comprehensive library of interesting articles.

I am pleased to have so many= excellent artic= les for this newsletter. Colin’s article on Cameron-Lovett throws light o= n a renowned but forgotten explorer and of course connects with his own role as consul to Malawi. It is interesting too to hear Douglas’s story about scrambler bikes a= nd how his interest was kindled while serving in the RAF in Egypt. = It was good too to read about how much Shona gained fr= om her exchange to New Zealand and Duncan’s visit to the S= tone Mountain Games has certainly whetted my appetite. I am most appreciative of all those who have contributed and as always welcome articl= es for future publications.
