Council Meeting 1st March 2008

Council agreed to:

1. Commission 6 heraldic shields for sale 2. Proceed with the President’s Badge and seek further member donations for that 3. Purchase flags featuring the clan crest. 4. Support the “Gentle Lochiel” memorial in Bergues France 5. Have a stall at the Mod in Falkirk in October 2008 and 6. Not have a stall at Cowal this year. 7. The Council also agreed to look again at the Association Objectives 8. The Council commended the support of the Lochiel family for the Association and 9. Decided to benchmark our Association with other Clan Associations

 

Amongst the correspondence was a torrent of e-mails with regard to the International Gathering - mostly focusing on the view that it should have been held in Inverness and was too expensive. Nevertheless, the Council agreed to support this event with a tent at the Gathering, by purchasing a group passport, marching in the parade and having a welcome reception for visiting Camerons.

 

Members applying from without the UK should pay the currency equivalent membership fee + 5% extra to cover currency conversion charges. Lapsed memberships had been chased up and members are encouraged to recruit from their own families.

 

Culloden Memorial Service will be on 19th April at 11.00 followed by a 2 course lunch Main + sweet + Coffee/Tea at Cawdor Tavern at £15.00. Vice Presidents reported on the activities in their regions. Details were given of the various Games at which we will have a stall, (See Activities page)

 

Spring Newsletter will be posted within the next few days with an insert application form for Culloden lunch.

 

The accounts show a balance of £3306.97 at the end of December 2007 and a current balance of  £3744.31

Next Council Meeting was set for 7th June in “Ma Cameron’s Inn”, Aberdeen and the AGM for 18th October, in Falkirk.
