CLAN CAMERON ASSOCIATION SCOTLAND

Council Meeting 18th October 2008

Council reported:

1. That we would sell heraldic shields for £30.00 2.  Purchase 6 flags featuring the clan crest and bunting  3. The President’s Badge was almost ready. We would buy a red and gold ribbon.  4. Alan, Elizabeth, Roddy, Janet and Barry would go to Bergues. Donald Andrew would represent his father. 5. We had bought 10 passports for the International Gathering. We would hold a reception for visiting Camerons in Edinburgh on Friday, 24th July. Barry & Roddy would co-ordinate the tent display at the Edinburgh Gathering 7. We would not have a stall at the National Mod in 2009.  8. Duncan had conducted a benchmarking exercise with other clans. We would look at those at the next Council meeting. 9. We had looked at marquees and toilet accommodation for the Achnacarry Gathering. The Association would hold a reception in the Nevis Centre on Friday, 31st August at 7.30 There would be a facility for young people. Alan reported on the Oak woodland and the cost of trees @ £100.00 a time. The CCAS would purchase a tree. It was hoped that the Lochiel Memorial in Fort William would be cleaned.

 

Amongst the correspondence was a request to attend a St Andrew’s Day Rally on November 29th. This was mid-week and was to launch the Homecoming. The Council agreed not to attend but would advise Edinburgh members. A note from Richard Sedgewick indicated that the trees had been purchased. The Oak woodland would be dedicated and officially opened. With regard to the Raising of the Standard at Glenfinnan it was agreed that we should ask a re-enactment group if they wished to lead/participate.

 

Summer Events: There was a discussion on the viability of attending these events but Council felt that it raised the profile of the clan. It was decided to attend Inverness (Sat 18th July), Arisaig (Wed, 29th July), Lochaber, (Sat, 25th July), Glenfinnan, (Sat 15th Aug) and Braemar (Sat 5th September). The Lochaber event co-incides with the International Gathering in Edinburgh

 

Membership stood at 229 in UK and 83 outwith UK. The form on the website needed to be updated. (sorted) and Chris’s address is Shaftesbury Street not Shaftesbury Avenue.

 

Culloden Memorial Service will be on 18th April  2009 at 11.00 followed by lunch at Cawdor Tavern. Duncan will organise this event. Vice Presidents reported on the activities in their regions. Details were given of the various Games at which we will have a stall, (See Activities page)

 

The next newsletter will revert to A5 format

 

The accounts show a balance of £3222.57 at the end of September 2008.

Next Council Meeting was set for 21st  March in the YMCA HQ in Stirling
